2. I can't get my water balanced. How do I tell what chemicals need to be added?

Let us test your water for you using our Pinpoint Water System. Just bring in a small water sample (about 8oz) in a clean container. We will need to know how many gallons of water your tub holds and what you are using as a sanitizer (chlorine, bromine, etc.). You will receive a customized printout that tells you exactly which chemicals and in what quantities need to be added. The test and the advice are always free.

3. I think I may be allergic to chlorine. What sanitizing options do I have?

There are a wide variety of sanitizing options available to hot tub owners now, including chlorine, bromine, biguanide, mineral, and more. The easiest way to assess your personal needs is to stop in and talk to one of our qualified water care experts. They can guide you to a sanitizer just right for you and help you convert your water without creating a nasty chemical reaction.

4. How often should I change the water in my hot tub?

While different sanitizing systems may have varying recommendations, the general rule of thumb says its time to change your water with the season changes. By changing your water every 3 months, you reduce the effects of chemical buildup and many bacterial issues. When changing the water, the tub itself should be cleaned, checked for any damage, and the filters chemically cleaned or replaced.

5. What if I need a new hard cover?

Due to the wide range of sizes, we special order each hard cover. We have color samples and measuring guides available. It takes approx 2-3 weeks from the order date for the new cover to arrive at our store. We recommend using a bubble cover on the surface of the water and a marine protectant, like 303, on the exterior to extend the life of your hard cover.

6. How can I tell if my hot tub needs a new filter?

Most hot tub filters are cylinders with woven fiber pleats. These filters should be chemically cleaned with a degreaser designed for the sanitizing system you have chosen at least every 3 months. If properly maintained, your filter could last as long as 3 to 4 years. The filter should be replaced when the pleat fibers begin to loosen giving the filter a hairy or fuzzy appearance. If there are bands around the filter, look for multiple splits in the bands. This also indicates its time for a new filter. There are hundreds of different filter sizes, with variances as little as 1/16th of an inch, so it is important to measure the old filter before tossing it into the garbage. Measure the length, outside diameter, and check to see if it has any special fittings. You can also just bring the old filter in and we'd be happy to measure it for a replacement for you.
